What to eat and drink at 3am in Zagreb: a guide for night owls
Restaurants are closed, delivery is done, the shops shut hours ago. Here's where to eat and drink in central Zagreb when the clock says 3.
Zagreb at night has plenty going on, but not many places open to buy something to eat or drink. Vendo, a self-service shop by Trg žrtava fašizma, is open 24/7, every day.
At 2am in Zagreb
2am is when restaurants have long closed, delivery is winding down or the wait is too long, and petrol stations are far and pricey. If you're near the centre: espresso for €0.90, sandwich from €2.50, bottle of water for €1.10. Walk in, pick, pay by card, walk out — 30 seconds.
At 3am in Zagreb
3am is the classic: after a night out or before one, in the small hours when you fancy a Coca-Cola. Always in stock, 0.5 L bottle for €1.50; Coca-Cola Zero for €1.60 if you avoid sugar. Plus Sprite for €1.50, iced tea for €1.50 and water for €1.10.
At 4am in Zagreb
4am is the line between late night and early morning. The hunger is real, the thirst even more so. Espresso for €0.90 to wake up or cappuccino for €1.00 for something softer; sandwich from €2.50 or something sweet/savoury from €0.70 for quick. There's a taxi stand right outside so you can grab something and go.
After a night out (munchies mode)
After the club the only criteria are immediate and enough. Doritos for €1.40, Twix for €1.40, Kinder Bueno for €1.20, Snickers for €1.40, brownie for €1.40 — all in one machine. Lots of water on the side. More: the munchies guide.
Night shift
Nurses, doctors, taxi drivers, security staff, couriers, bakers: if you work while the city sleeps, your 2am break doesn't have to be on an empty stomach. Sandwich from €2.50, espresso for €0.90, water for €1.10. Coins, card or phone, and you're out in 30 seconds.
Before a night out
Don't go out hungry. A sandwich or a snack and a bottle of water before the club costs less than anything inside.
House party, and the Coca-Cola ran out
Guests are over, shops are closed, and the Coca-Cola is gone. Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero are always in stock, in 0.5 L bottles at for €1.50 and for €1.60. There's Sprite, iced tea and water too, and snacks for the guests.
